Automa leads innovation with Neoenergia’s first full digital distribution substation

News & Insights — Automa

We are proud to announce that Automa’s SPCS team successfully completed the Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on Neoenergia’s first full digital distribution substation, a turning point for the automation of the Brazilian power sector.

This milestone was only possible thanks to the combination of Automa’s solid expertise in the IEC 61850 standard and the trusted partnership with Neoenergia. Our team was responsible for leading the entire process of engineering, integration and validation of the digital solutions, ensuring not only technical feasibility but also tangible economic results for the client.

In this project, we highlight the implementation of advanced process bus solutions from Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL), integrated and configured by the Automa team to raise the substation’s automation standard. The result is a digital, intelligent and connected operation, prepared for the future challenges of distribution.

By conducting every stage, from planning to test execution, Automa demonstrated its commitment to technical excellence, cybersecurity and full compliance with international best practices. The benefits for Neoenergia are clear: reduction of operational and maintenance costs, increased reliability and sustainability, and the enhancement of the entire energy infrastructure.

Being a protagonist of this advance reinforces Automa’s purpose of digitally transforming the power sector, delivering solutions that positively impact our partners, the market and society as a whole. We continue moving forward, prepared for new challenges and ready to consolidate automation as the driving force of Brazil’s energy modernization.

See how we are driving a
cleaner energy future.
